Pipeline renovation

Most water and sewer pipelines have been in the ground for 30 years or more. What condition are they in? We can only guess. Blockages, leaks and pipe failures cause inconvenience for people and damage to the environment. We face similar problems in Estonia, too. This means that many existing water and sewer pipelines are already so old that they need replacing.

The cost of repairing old pipelines rises every year. To date, the most common solution has been to dig up the old pipelines and replace them with new ones. This is undoubtedly the most widely used method, but it is not always economically viable. Excavation can often prove practically impossible because of cramped working conditions, heavy traffic or the considerable depth at which the pipes lie.

The alternative is to replace pipelines without having to dig them up. This is made possible by NO-DIG, or trenchless, methods. AS Terrat has been using these methods for more than ten years.

We started with the sliplining and Flexoren methods in 1994.

Today we can install or renovate pipelines using the Grundocrack, Grundoburst, Grundodrill, MaxiLine or Inpipe methods. Thanks to our partners in Europe, we offer solutions for a wide variety of situations, often including highly complex ones.

Trenchless methods can also be used to install new pipelines – Grundoram steel pipe ramming, impact moling and Grundodrill directional drilling make it possible to build new pipelines under roads and railways as well as rivers. By using a range of technologies and working together with the client and the designer, we can find the optimum solution to most water and sewer pipeline construction and renovation problems.
